The Guide About StarCraft 2 Strategy Guides - Must Read
If you browse blogs and forum you will see a lot of ads for those new StarCraft 2 strategy guides. If you are like me and have a passion for StarCraft you might want to know if those guides are actually useful and keep their promises or if they are just another scam.
I wanted to find out the truth and bought myself one of the more popular strategy guides: The Shokz guide. Does it live up to the promises?
First things first: The guide was not complete. Of course I was a bit confused about this. That’s when I realized that all the build orders we use today were just about to be developed back then and the meta-game was constantly changing. That’s why the guide was updated with fresh information nearly every day.
Soon the meta-game became more stable and the members area was quickly filled with more articles and guides than I can count.
Alright, what did I really find in the guide? First of all there are guides for each and every unit in the game. They all have strengths and weaknesses and the guides explain exactly when a unit will win you the game.
Build orders are the next section in the guide. Although in my opinion build orders are not what really improves your skill I know that a lot of people use them to learn the game - and you will find a lot of them. After all, a good build order can push you up the Leagues because you can win many games just by executing them. Unfortunately things change when you enter higher ranks and battle opponents with more skill.
Now you also have to have map awareness, play mind games with your enemy and make decisions in tough situations. In this moment you have to abandon build orders and enter the deeper level of StarCraft 2 strategy.
Luckily the guide also covers the important aspect of a progamers mindset. Believe it or not, this section of the guide will help you more than any build order that you can find on the internet.
