Video Games
Movie video games are getting better all the time
There have been official movie video games almost as long as there have been methods to play video games. Whilst a number of them could be said to be impressive, a greater number of them have been unfortunately lacklustre in nigh on every aspect that made the films they were based around iconic. Currently, thankfully there is a great selection of movie video games available to enjoy- a few of which could well be more interesting than the movies themselves!
First on our list there's the new movie video game based on X-Men Origins: Wolverine. This awesome adventure game is thankfully hugely better than the film itself! Created by Raven Software, the Wolverine game features a somewhat different storyline to the popular movie, but it does contain Hugh Jackman's voice and likeness. The game features all of Wolverine's attributes, which are used in a rather interesting way- in particular his healing factor.
As far as Marvel movie games go, the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie video game is very, very violent, as you'll see from the battlefield scattered with decimated cadavers and other delightful things. Well, the Wolverine character sure has claws. Here you get to make him use them to their entire dangerous effect.
Next up there is the new game established on Terminator Salvation, the latest film in the apocalyptic cyborg sci-fi action film series. Where the third film Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and its movie video game incarnation were awful, this appears to be going hand in hand with the exciting new vision of the new film and is superb to look at and play. Here's a fine example of how movie video games are improving a huge amount lately.
Now with 2 player co-operative game-play, the Terminator story is catching up with other video games such as blockbuster Gears of War franchise, allowing for some great split-screen action to be played out. Couple this with the beautifully rendered futuritic distopian setting that the movie video game is set in, which you can use to your full advantage during the game, and you have one strong prospect for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
The eagerly awaited Ghostbusters movie video game is something that is causing a great big hubbub. With news that the third Ghostbusters movie is finally heading into production, 20 years after the second Ghostbusters movie arrived, now is a perfect time to remind yourself of the much loved Ghostbusters characters and scenes. Let's face it, the first movie is a real classic in every sense of the term, and finally there's a movie video game that does it justice.
The story of the new Ghostbusters game was created by Harold Ramis and Dan Ackroyd, the writers (and stars) of the 1st two Ghostbusters feature films, so the new video game may even be canon to a certain level. The classic original four Ghostbusters movie characters are recreated as awesome digital interpretations of the stars, and the whole game looks brilliant. All of your vital readings are displayed on your Proton pack, giving this movie video game a similar feel to Dead Space. With all of the classic monsters turning up in the game, fans will be enthralled when they snap it up for their DS, PS3, PC, Xbox 360 or Wii.
Following on from so many lacking movie video game tie-ins, it seems that the best new titles that are coming out are being made with much more respect for the source material and also what fans demand out of a movie video game based on their favourite titles. These are the best three movie video games available right now, and hopefully they will help you unveil a vibrant new level of fun of your favourite films.
