The “cap and trade” proposal currently being debated in Congress is a dire threat to our economy, which is already in a dangerously depressed state. This proposal is just another tax on American businesses cloaked in environmental language. It would not reduce carbon emissions from American industry, it would simply give American industry a huge incentive to pack up and move their operations overseas. As governor I certainly do not want to see more jobs lost. I would do every thing in my power to see that Tennessee’s businesses are protected from this assault on common sense.
