I am strongly opposed to an income tax for Tennessee. Once income taxes are put in place they are there to stay. States that have implemented them in the past have always steadily raised the tax rate, as they burn through more and more of the taxpayers’ dollars. No matter how much our government collects it always spends that and wants more. I believe Tennessee’s tax burden is heavy enough and produces enough revenue for the state that we do not need an income tax. One of my priorities will be to eliminate waste, corruption, and the inefficiencies that currently plague our state government. I will never forget that the money the state collects comes directly from the hard working people of our state and should not be squandered or wasted.
